No config files documented for offline use

I tried to use it on my local network where I have some vllm servers running that work fine with opencode through a configuration json file, but I can’t tell how to make code work with them.

Is there a way to configure a server and possibly some mcp servers as well by just editing a config file or something like that?

Yes, jcode does support config-file based setup for this today. The confusing part is that it was under-documented.

MCP config

Use either:

• ~/.jcode/mcp.json for global config
• .jcode/mcp.json for project-local config

.claude/mcp.json is also supported as a compatibility fallback.

Example:

On first run, jcode also tries to import MCP servers from:

• ~/.claude/mcp.json
• ~/.codex/config.toml ([mcp_servers.*] sections)

Self-hosted / offline model endpoints

For a local or self-hosted OpenAI-compatible server, use:

• jcode login --provider openai-compatible

Or configure it directly via the env file in jcode's app config dir. On Linux that is usually:

• ~/.config/jcode/openai-compatible.env

Example:

JCODE_OPENAI_COMPAT_API_BASE=http://192.168.1.50:8000/v1
JCODE_OPENAI_COMPAT_DEFAULT_MODEL=Qwen/Qwen3-Coder-30B-A3B-Instruct
# Optional if your server expects auth
OPENAI_COMPAT_API_KEY=your-token-here

That should work for vLLM or other OpenAI-compatible servers.

I’m also cleaning up the docs/help text so these paths are easier to discover, since the current messaging still points people at older Claude-style MCP paths in some places.

I tried using the OpenAI compact flags, then I typed /login and selected that item from the list of providers, but it printed some errors:

Warning: ignoring invalid JCODE_OPENAI_COMPAT_API_BASE ‘http://my.models.net:8009/v1’. Use https://… (or http://localhost)

Also, my mcp tools are http servers, so there’s no local command for them to run. I think some of them use sse over http as well. Is there a way to specify this kind of mcp server?
