Building for EFI

Hello,

I am greatly interested in trying pick up work on MicroV and in particular need to build for EFI for my project.

I have an Ubuntu 24.04 (x64) and also want to test loading of Windows 10/11 and Ubuntu 24.04 guest OS once it all build but there is not much information on EFI building that I can find so far.

Can you please assist?

@lonnietc I also found this project interesting.

However, it doesn't seem to be being maintained.

For running a VM on UEFI, you can refer to https://github.com/Bareflank/MicroV/blob/mono/deps/hypervisor/bfdriver/src/platform/efi/entry.c.

It appears to run /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi as a Guest.

@jclab-joseph I was able to compile the MicroV on my Ubuntu 22.04 (x64) but am having troubles running it from a UEFI shell in that it just shows some errors in not being able to load the kernel and extension files that are also in the same directory.

Have you been able to compile and run it?
