Standard support for Kubernetes version 1.34 in Amazon EKS will end on December 2, 2026.
Starting this date Amazon EKS clusters running on 1.34 with Kubernetes version policy set to extended will enter extended support.
Kubernetes version 1.34 will remain in extended support until December 2, 2027.
After December 2, 2027 Kubernetes 1.34 will no longer be supported on Amazon EKS, and all Amazon EKS clusters running on 1.34 will be automatically updated to Kubernetes version 1.35.
You are receiving this message because you currently have one or more Amazon EKS clusters running on Kubernetes version 1.34.
If you have deleted, or already upgraded your EKS cluster, please disregard this message.
Information about affected resources is available in the 'Affected resources' section of the Health Dashboard, the 'affectedEntities' field in the EventBridge event details or the 'entities' field in the Health DescribeAffectedEntities API responses.
Amazon EKS clusters in extended support receive ongoing security patches for the Kubernetes control plane.
Additionally, Amazon EKS releases critical patches for Amazon VPC CNI, kube-proxy, and CoreDNS add-ons, AWS-published EKS Optimized Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for Amazon Linux and Bottlerocket, and EKS Fargate nodes for Kubernetes versions in extended support.
All clusters in extended support are backed by technical support from AWS.
If you do not want to use extended support, we recommend that you update your 1.34 clusters to Kubernetes version 1.35 or newer before December 2, 2026.
You can also opt-out of extended support by managing your Kubernetes version policy [1].
Amazon EKS clusters that are opted-out of extended support will have their control planes automatically upgraded at the end of standard support.
