Add AI Transparency Support to SDPi

"AI Transparency" is a capability that is increasingly being required by all technologies used in healthcare contexts, including devices.

HL7 FHIR AI Transparency IG defines a method for providing this information within that ecosystem, and that informed the IHE ITI CP.

IHE ITI CP to add AI transparency to PCD DEC & ACM leverages the same. ( CP-DEV-xxx-02-Add-AI-Transparency-to-PCD.docx ).

QUESTION: How should this topic be addressed within the SDPi profile standard?

Considerations:

1. It could be added to TF-3 as an SDC MDIB Extension (Is this already under consideration?)
2. Gateways to IHE DEV/PCD + HL7 FHIR (via PoCD FHIR IG) will also be supporting this information and should be isosemantic so that it can be passed through.
3. How to make implementation of, for example, an optional AI Transparency Content Module to system implementations?

Proposal: Add this to the 3.0 Milestone for later in 2026.

Group reviewed the referenced document + Todd showed some slides on this FHIR IG from the recent HL7 Firely FHIR DevDays.
This issue is seen as a first, incremental step into an explicit support for AI content within an SDC context, with future expansion as needed.
NOTE: That for SDPi, both IHE DEV/PCD and HL7 FHIR will have AI Transparency capabilities available (see problem description above. So if the information passed through an SDPi gateway to those environments includes some "AI Transparency" information, we need a simple means of SDC providers to indicate that fact isosemantically
Approach would be to:

1. Leverage the content from the FHIR AI Transparency IG + IHE Proposal(s)
2. Add AI Transparency use cases to TF-1C (Todd)
3. Add AI Transparency extension to TF-3 (David & Todd)

NOTE: In item (3) above, this could be as simple as defining a production spec entry. It could be a binary yes/no that the device includes some AI element, or it could include any AI model or other descriptive info (per the IGs). Ultimately, support could be added at the Channel level and those metrics that are AI "generated" or touched.

Question may also include if / how a provider service (e.g., ext control) that involves invocation of some AI element, would be indicated.
