Rog-control-center icon color no longer reflects GPU status

Since version 6.3.9, the feature that displays the GPU status via the rog-control-center icon color (integrated: green; hybrid (GPU off: blue / GPU on: red); MUX on: white) has been completely broken. In version 6.3.8, at least the display for hybrid mode still worked. Since 6.3.9, only the blue icon is displayed in every configuration.
The removal of supergfx appears to be affecting this functionality, since it always worked prior to version 6.3.8.

I have noticed that having supergfxd installed and running causes this issue on some devices. Can you confirm that this may be the case for you as well?

I can't comment on that because I uninstalled supergfxctl once asusctl became capable of managing the GPU mode. Supergfxctl had become increasingly unreliable, and asusctl is much more reliable. However, one feature that worked with it was the ability to change the tray icon color depending on the mode. Without supergfxctl, the situation is as follows:

Integrated --> Icon is permanently white
Ultimate --> Icon is permanently red
Hybrid - dGPU suspended --> Icon is permanently red
Hybrid - dGPU active --> Icon is permanently red
In the “Hybrid - dGPU suspended” case, the icon should change to blue.

Unfortunately, I’m a complete novice, but I’d be happy to provide any information or log files if you let me know which ones you need.

Well that's helpful. This seems like a symptom of #208 rather than a tray icon colour bug in and of itself

But this issue i am very certain you have supergfxd resetting dgpu_disabled state. You can uninstall supergfxctl and clean up like so:

sudo pacman -Rns supergfxctl

# See that it should be not found
systemctl status supergfxd

# Clean up any possible remnants
sudo rm /etc/supergfxd.conf /etc/modprobe.d/supergfxd.conf

And then see if dropdown is fixed on the next reboot

I can't confirm that. I built and installed asusctl and rog-control-center with the fix #212 included, and the problem with the tray icon persists. It always shows up red in hybrid mode.
However, I didn't have the issue described in #208 at all in 6.3.10. For me, the dGPU is always reliably suspended.

I can describe the problem in a little more detail. Here's what happens when the dGPU is suspended:

cat /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:64:00.0/power/runtime_status
suspended

but at the same time

gdbus call --system --dest xyz.ljones.Asusd --object-path /xyz/ljones/Gpu --method org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.Get "xyz.ljones.Gpu" "PowerStatus"

In other words, the rog-control-center doesn't even realize that the dGPU is suspended
