How to conditionally set env var?

How to conditionally set env var? For example, if $VARLOCK_IS_CI, I want the env var to be set, otherwise I do not.

Example:

# @optional
DRIVE_INCOMING_FOLDER_ID=if($VARLOCK_IS_CI, "", awsParam("/$DEPLOY_ENV/drive-incoming-folder-id"))

locally results in:

✅ DRIVE_INCOMING_FOLDER_ID
   └ ""
✅ DRIVE_PROCESSED_FOLDER_ID
   └ ""

but I don't want them to be defined.

you can pass undefined instead of "" and it should do what you want.

one note, I had to make it # @optional

yeah that makes sense. the other option would be a conditional import that only includes the CI related items. https://varlock.dev/reference/root-decorators/#import

Another option: ITEM=if(not($VARLOCK_IS_CI), fn())

As for marking it optoinal/required - you can also do # @required=$VARLOCK_IS_CI
