Official fedora packages ?

Hi,

It seems xh is packaged in Debian, Ubuntu and Arch Linux (at least). However there seems to be no fedora (nor EPEL) package for it. I did find some COPR experiment here: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ducaale/xh/packages/ using your username, so I guess it was done by you, the maintainers of xh upstream ?

Is there any plan to have a fedora packaging for xh ?

Hi, my initial attempt wasn't successful, but I'm planning to take another look.

Once we have a working COPR package, we can start the submission process. I'm currently on fedora so I'm keen on having an official package for xh.

Latest version of reqwest in fedora packages is 0.13.1 but we are on 0.13.2. Also, we might need to vendor reqwest_cookie_store crate.

I didn't follow seriously what has been going on on fedora side, but I know at least for go (and I somehow think rust might be treated similarly): they kind of stopped trying to package every single go package as an rpm package, instead now they "vendor" all dependencies inside the go binaries shipped in fedora. This means that we no longer need to open tens and tens of dependency request on fedora side anymore for go libraries. If they did the same on rust side, maybe your issue of dependency packaging will go away.

I suggest maybe asking that on the fedora mailing list. Or trying to to look at how the major rust contributors on fedora side do (typically, Fabio Valentini). Update: You can install the latest version from COPR. The build for fedora 42 failed but the rest were successful.

sudo dnf copr enable ducaale/xh
sudo dnf install xh

The next step will be to start the submission process.
