Some plugins are just useful and create very little headache/debt/distraction..
For example for technical folks: ep_markdown, ep_hljs
For rich editing: ep_headings2, ep_align, ep_font_size, ep_font_color, ep_subscript_and_superscript, ep_font_family
For document meta: ep_set_title_on_pad, ep_table_of_contents
Then there are things like ep_ai_chat, ep_comments_page, ep_webrtc, ep_cursortrace, ep_author_hover - all very useful in their own right..
We try to ship a minimalist editor but it's possible most people are just not aware of the flexibility of Etherpad so see the minimalism and assume we can't provide a hyper-rich editor experience...
I'd like to have a conversation more than anything, we might just keep shipping vanilla only and not even think about this any further... I'm thinking about the user journeys for non technical people (authors, doctors, teachers) who just want to get started without any technical debt at all...
