Onboarding Failure

This morning, I received an email onboarding our organization to gh-stack: "You’re now onboarded to the GitHub Stacked PRs preview". However, we're still not able to use it:

gh stack checkout 433
Stacked PRs are not enabled for this repository

Not a great onboarding experience. Are we waiting for something to get reset? Is the client cacheing the remote's eligibility? Do I need to take another action to get started?

In order to checkout a stack it needs to exist first in the repo. Are you able to create a stack of PRs using gh stack submit?

Are you seeing the option to create Stacked PRs via the web UI? https://github.github.com/gh-stack/guides/ui/#creating-a-stack-from-the-ui

@skarim thanks for the response. The example I gave is for a PR created with gh stack from before our repo was granted early access. Are you saying that there's no way to migrate those PRs to being stacked from github's side? And is it also fair to say that the issue is not that stacked PRs aren't enabled for the repo, but that particular PR isn't set as a stacked one on Github?

Ah gotcha. Yeah if you created your PRs before being part of the beta, you will need to rerun gh stack sync / gh stack submit to turn your PRs into an official stack on GitHub. The CLI needs to hit an API to turn the PRs into a stack.

Let me know if that doesn't work for you and I can investigate further!

@broguinn @jazanne apologies — turns out there was an issue with enablement taking longer than expected. But it has now been completed and everyone who received the email should have the feature enabled. Can you please retry and confirm if it works for you?

I ran gh stack sync succesfully

Confirmed that your user @jazanne is enrolled in the preview, which means that all repos owned by your user have access to the feature. Repos that are owned by other users/orgs won't work if they're not enrolled in the preview. Feel free to email me if you have any further questions!
