Description
Taking inspiration from the “Construction Sets” on https://www.opensourceecology.org/development/ and the Gingery book series, I want to create a graph of projects for putting together a small home fab lab (or hackerspace) with open source projects.
The root point right now for that graph is a commodity 3D printer, although we’ll also link to RepRap and Voron/CoreXY printers that can be built with that printer.
Other tools on the list:
- a laser cutter
- a CNC router or small desktop CNC mill
- One option for CNC router is a Maslow4: https://www.maslowcnc.com/
- a heat-set insert machine
- a filament recycler/extruder
- inspired by http://recreator3d.com/ and https://youtu.be/WUcZyOWUzcY , be able to use cut strips from PET bottles to "pull" filament
- But also, ideally modular so that it can also shred and process PLA for recycling, so waste, supports, etc., can be re-used.
- basic electronics lab tools like an oscilloscope and JTAG programmer
Some around the house things that’d be neat if we also had OSS projects for:
- a modular robot vacuum project
- an indoor hydroponic/aeroponic system
