Script to test mongodb-mcp-server running

Is there such a script to test if mongodb-mcp-server is running correctly?
If not, do you want one (I wrote one)?
If so, where would it go if I submit a PR?
Or should I just attach the script here?

Hey!
What would be your usecase for such a script?
We planning to add --dryRun which will attempt to "start" the server without actually starting it and instead print the passed settings and all the tools for the MCP server that can be useful for debugging. Would that match your needs?

The use case that made me write a script is that I'm automating the startup of several MCP servers used by my agent and wanted to test the bring-up scripts simply. So I wrote a test script that connects and lists tools. I just wondered if it was useful to the project.

@jwoehr Got it! Sounds like --dryRun should cover most of that for our server specifically. I think we wouldn't need the script in that case but really appreciate the contribution offer. 🙂

If there ends up being any gaps in --dryRun that you think would be nice to have you're welcome to raise that too.
Right now it dumps the user-provided configuration and all the tools enabled through it.

@jwoehr the 1.3.0 version is now out and includes --dryRun! You can try that with i.e.

npx mongodb-mcp-server@latest --dryRun <other options>
