Not sure if by design, but it is unusable with other synths (and it makes a great bass synth imo).

should yield a note somewhere near c4@261.7Hz

Instead, it's a very sharp a3@228.1Hz

Yes, it seems to be the freqtotone method of the AY ugen is not correct.
