Crashes on macos 10.13.6

I installed the client with the install script but after I run ezQuake.app the game simply crashes. I can't see any error log or whatever that would help me provide more detailed information.

I'm experiencing the same issue on macOS 11.3.1 on a early 2020 MacBook Air. I downloaded the latest nquake installer, run the installation script (not using a full version of Quake), and after it finished, the game crashes when I try to run it.
