Sony PHA-1A detected, but no USB audio in RockPod v5.4.1 #24

Description

@kosmikonaut

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help.

Hardware:

  • iPod Classic 7th Gen
  • iFlash Quad (512 GB)
  • Sony PHA-1A
  • Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro

Software:

  • Latest Rockbox
  • Latest RockPod (v5.4.1 / build 2a72f8d-260329)

I’ve performed several completely fresh installations of both Rockbox and RockPod, but the behavior is always the same.

The Sony PHA-1A works perfectly when I boot into the original Apple firmware, so the DAC, cable, and hardware appear to be working correctly.

Under RockPod:

  • Music plays normally through the iPod headphone jack.
  • When I connect and power on the PHA-1A, a small plug/accessory icon appears in the top-left corner (next to the battery icon), so RockPod seems to detect that an accessory has been connected.
  • However, audio never switches to the PHA-1A.
  • If I turn the PHA-1A off while it’s connected, playback on the iPod stops immediately.

I’ve also tried different connection orders, reboots, and various USB/accessory settings without success.

I’m running out of ideas. Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions for additional debugging?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
