Hi — Greg here, President of Opportunity Hack.

If you're new: OHack is a 501(c)(3) connecting technical talent to nonprofits. We've been at it since 2013. 200+ nonprofit partners, 3,000+ alumni, two hackathons a year at ASU Tempe, and a Slack with 2,500+ technologists figuring out how to use their craft for something that matters. Our next hackathon is November 14–15, 2026 at ASU Tempe.

We just made our operations public. The Issues tab is where work lives — concrete things we're shipping, with owners and deadlines. Discussions is for everything that's not yet a task — ideas you're rolling around, questions you don't want to interrupt Slack for, work you've built that you want to share.

How to use the categories

💡 Ideas — "What if we…" Lower commitment than an issue. If an idea picks up energy here, we convert it into an issue with an owner.

❓ Q&A — Anything from "how does the judging rubric work?" to "what stack should I use for my hackathon project?" No question is too basic. We learn faster when no one is pretending.

🎤 Show & Tell — Did you ship something? A nonprofit project, a side tool, a write-up from your hackathon experience? Post it. This is where we celebrate work and pass forward what we've learned.

📢 Announcements — Read-only from the OHack team. Hackathon dates, retro recaps, partnerships, governance.

A few norms

• Be useful. Be kind. Assume the other person is doing their best.
• Specific > vague. "Here's what I'm trying" beats "I have a question."
• Search first. If your question has been asked, add to that thread instead of opening a new one.
• We hold ourselves to good engineering norms — small PRs, clear writing, AI tools welcome but you own what you ship.
