Book Discussion: Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie

• Discussion is for the Entire Book
• Type of Book: Fiction, Murder Mystery
• I read this book because: I've been on an Agatha Christie kick this year. I recently finished reading all of the Hercule Poirot stories, and this came up as a recommendation in Libby for me.

FYI: Spoilers may be in this thread. Do not read further unless this is something you do not mind.

I was surprised by how good this ended up being. I couldn't put it down this week.

My thoughts:

• As one comes to expect, there's a solid plot twist at the end when the criminal is revealed. I actually didn't guess this one correctly ahead of time, which is a fun surprise.
• The ancient Egyptian setting for this story doesn't feel quite as natural as England does in the Hercule Poirot novels, IMO.
• The character names tripped me up a little bit, perhaps because I read with my internal narrator going and just wasn't sure which pronunciations were correct.
• The ending was a bit too short of a course correction to a happy ending for me. I wonder if Ms. Christie was writing under a deadline and had to wrap it up at that point, or if she herself was just done with the story altogether. Who knows!
