APK Installer

Not so much as an issue but a hopeful request.
Is there any plans to update this to support the new APK installer?

I'd love to give this a go.

I certainly intent to update the packaging at some point, but don't have a concrete timeline yet. Personally I only run stable OpenWRT versions, so I don't have the need yet. Contributions are of course welcome!

first of all, 25.12 is now stable.

second, i upgraded and tested hapt by manually copying the service and the script itself to their corresponding locations - and it works fine with no changes!

so, the only thing that has to be done is make a new package with the apk format. i might look into contributing that if i get some free time to work on it, but don't get too excited as that may happen very not soon :/

for now though, if anyone came here looking for a solution, here's what i did:

wget https://github.com/oxan/hapt/raw/refs/heads/master/hapt/files/hapt.init -O /etc/init.d/hapt
wget https://github.com/oxan/hapt/raw/refs/heads/master/hapt/files/hapt.py -O /usr/bin/hapt
chmod +x /etc/init.d/hapt /usr/bin/hapt
apk add micropython micropython-lib micropython-lib-unix-src
service hapt enable
service hapt start

...and now everything is back as usual!

this was a lot easier than i expected, with this merged, there should be an apk package available soon! but depending on how the author handles it, installation might no longer be possible via web interface (only command line), because openwrt changed how package signatures work. still, much better than having no package at all :)

I'm maintaining a fork where I publish a signed APK bundle, however the pubkey needs to be configured for automatic updates and unfortunately attended sysupgrade requires reinstalling the module
