Unsupported Linux Distro? Please stop this nonsense

I use Devuan. Its 99% Debian. It doesn't have systemd.
Yet every single time I want to use a piece of software that checks linux distro, I can't because developers will hard code the names of distributions in to the install script, and since Devuan isn't on the list, it fails.

I realise the devs can't fix every single bug or dependence for every single distro, that would be madness. But if you are going to claim that a piece of software runs "everywhere" and blanket statement like "Linux", but then tell me that my Debian distro is unsupported, that's on you friends.
