Shift key on thumbs

In the readme you mention deciding on some key positions because the shift key was on the pinky. How about various split keyboards where people often have a shift on a thumb key? Would you still change much?

If you use thumb shift, you might be able to get away with putting both , and . on the pinky. I personally wouldn't do that because I feel like that's a lot of load for my pinky, but I know that arrangement is popular with a lot of other layouts.
