Past a certain typing speed, it's hard for me to know what exactly my mistakes are (skipped letter, letters out of order, wrong keys, premature space, etc), and so it's harder for me to know how to correct myself as I continue the test.
Suggestion: when a wrong key is pressed, insert the wrong key at the caret (overwriting the correct key) so I know what I pressed. Perhaps the bad input could be highlighted in red (an advantage of using a background for this is it can show premature spaces).
(Possible alternative: show a running list of mistakes in the current test at the bottom)
