Period window coupling to alerts #795

I was going through your documentation, and stumbled upon the AlertWindow/v1 spec.
Configuring the period window seem to require specifying the whole structure (i.e., shortWindow, longWindow, etc.) for both page and ticket alerts. Why is that information always needed, and why are they so heavily coupled? My understanding is that in most cases there would be a need to set up alerts from SLOs, but this seems to be requiring a very specific structure for them.
Just curious about this design decision and I thought I'd open this issue to learn more about it! :)
