Sherali Abdukakhkharov — independent developer. Contact: sherali.abdukakhkharov@gmail.com. I am building “Sahih”, a free educational hadith reference tool for Uzbek-speaking Muslims.
Your purpose in using this API:
Sahih is a free, non-commercial educational Telegram bot + web Mini App. Its mission is to fight the spread of fabricated (mawḍūʿ) hadith by only ever showing text verified against authentic sources and reviewed by a qualified scholar. Features: browse/read the canonical collections, filter by book/narrator/topic/grade, hybrid lexical+semantic search, and a grounded “is this hadith authentic?” check. The app never generates hadith text — it only retrieves and displays verified records, always with the grade and source. I would like to build on the six canonical collections (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasaʾi, Ibn Majah), storing the public-domain Arabic matn + structure + numbering + gradings. I will clearly attribute sunnah.com and respect your no-scraping / no-mass-reproduction policy. If the project ever becomes commercial, I will return for explicit written permission.
API rate limits:
• Maximum requests per second: 2
• Maximum requests per day: ~20,000 for a one-time initial ingest (spread politely), then minimal — only occasional incremental/correction fetches.
Is your use case better served by an offline dump or programmatic API access?
An offline dump is my primary need — I do a one-time full-corpus import into PostgreSQL (pgvector) and generate embeddings locally. Programmatic API access would be a helpful secondary channel for updates/corrections, but the dump suits me best.
Languages you would like hadith data in:
Arabic (primary — the source matn) and English. Uzbek as well if available (my main audience); where it isn’t, I supply my own scholar-verified Uzbek.
Programming language your API client will be in:
Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS backend, Kysely + PostgreSQL/pgvector).
