[Question] Why pictures take up less storage when I copy them from clipboard to the Typora

Hi, dear developers. My question is just as the title suggests.

For example:

The picture above was captured by Snipaste, the picture below was automatically converted by Typora.

here is my Typora config of image:

This feature is very helpful, as it reduces my server pressure to host images, I really want to know it's principle.

Typora read image from clipboard (from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/DataTransfer/files or failbacks to https://www.electronjs.org/docs/latest/api/clipboard#clipboardreadimagetype), no extra logic to reduce its size.

You are right, after my experiment, Typora truly did nothing for the image from the clipboard. As the source code of Elxctron shows.

I think it's the feature of Windows which will reduces the PNG file size as small as it can do. This conclusion is summarized by my experiment with the software of Snipaste:

• When I set the quality of output image to maximum compressibility, the image read from Snipaste and Typora takes up the same storage size. As the result shows:

  

• When I set the quality of output image to uncompressed, the image read from Snipaste will take up much more storage than from Typora. (I think the image quality was restored by Snipaste under this configuration.) As the result shows:
