The xmppsend utility in most cases can be replaced with the plain mailsend.
But servers need a small SMTP endpoint. Alternatively this can be a usual mail server that will put letter to spool and then the XMPP server will pick them.
This can be then extended to make the XMPP server as a mail server.
So the xmpp address will become a mail address too.
