This looks nice, but not the same....
eget is like wget for github release binaries - not presumptuous about install locations, sudo/non-sudo, "providers" etc - just download it and place it wherever you want.

I prefer eget's model, but nevertheless - thanks for the link.

I asked https://github.com/abhixdd/ghgrab/ in abhixdd/ghgrab#54 to mirror eget functionality, and they seem implemented it in abhixdd/ghgrab#57. Who wish to try - say here, how was it?

Having tried ghgrab, dra, fetch etc. I got to say I like bin i [REPO] . best, plain and simple as eget [REPO] and also does a sane artifact selection..

Although, 17 MByte for a simple CLI tool.. come on 😂

This is basically a full rewrite, taking the tool into a very different direction, losing out on the simplicity of eget [REPO] usually doing the right thing (kudos @zyedidia ..)
There is another fork (seems to be the second most active) which does not add that much additional complexity: https://github.com/gmatheu/eget
