EPUB books previously remained on chapter one because the reader discarded the archive and spine after the first render, and Previous/Next handled only PDFs and comics. Keep EPUB state and navigate chapters in spine order, with accurate status and boundary controls.
Sanitize every chapter, prevent repeated clicks from skipping chapters, retain the current chapter when later content is missing, and discard stale loads when the library is cleared or another book opens.
Validation: an actual three-chapter EPUB regression reproduces the original failure and checks forward/backward navigation, boundaries, sanitization, reopening, repeated clicks, missing content, and reset during loading. The consumer suite and combined packaged smoke passed. Independent code review and integration review reported no findings.
