qsynth: error while loading shared libraries: libpulsecommon-13.0.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libpulsecommon-13.0.so it's actually installed as /usr/lib64/pulseaudio/libpulsecommon-13.0.so just not being included on the linker-loader cache (ldconfig).

there must be a way to add /usr/lib64/pulseaudio to the AppImage's /etc/ld.so.conf or equivalent ?

Aaah, right. Great point. Those pesky subdirectories in the libraries directory.
Try moving those libraries one directory up (out of the pulseaudio/ subdirectory).

Alternatively:

You could edit the rpath of the application or library that is trying to load this library:
https://nehckl0.medium.com/creating-relocatable-linux-executables-by-setting-rpath-with-origin-45de573a2e98

It's what my experimental go-appimage tool is doing.

the rpath is now added to the upstream build binary target:
patchelf --set-rpath /lib/lib64/pulseaudio $DESTDIR/usr/bin/qsynth
the issue may now be fixed; you may retrigger the checks, please, thanks.

❌ Test failure

Compatibility: not self-contained: uses the C library of the system; uses an old AppImage runtime that needs the C library (and libfuse2) of the system; references glibc 2.25

  • The application quit or crashed right after starting. The error below usually shows why.

First error in the log:

qsynth: error while loading shared libraries: libxkbcommon-x11.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

ERROR: The application exited within 11 seconds instead of showing a window

⚠️ Manual check needed: the download location changes owner

This PR changes where the AppImage is downloaded from, to a different owner or site:

  • data/Qsynth: download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/rncbc → download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/rncbc:
data/Qsynth
old: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/rncbc/AppImage/qsynth-latest-x86_64.AppImage
new: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/rncbc:/apps/AppImage/qsynth-latest-x86_64.AppImage

This is often fine (e.g. the project moved to an organization or to its own website), but it could also be an attempt to take over the entry.

  • Contributor: please explain in this PR why the location changed, ideally with a link where the project announces the new location.
  • Maintainers: please check that the new location belongs to the same project before merging.

❌ Test failure

Tested:

Compatibility: not self-contained: uses the C library of the system; uses an old AppImage runtime that needs the C library (and libfuse2) of the system; references glibc 2.25

  • The application needs a library that is neither in the AppImage nor on the test system ("error while loading shared libraries", the first error below names it). Please bundle this library, and what it depends on, in the AppImage: an AppImage cannot rely on libraries that are not installed on every target system.
  • The application quit or crashed right after starting; the error below usually shows why. Note that the test runs the application without network access, on purpose, and that this is a requirement for the catalog: an AppImage must start without network (users are offline too). If the application needs a server, a login or an update check to start, please make it show its window (or at least a message) first and connect afterwards, and handle a failed connection instead of exiting.

First error in the log:

qsynth: error while loading shared libraries: libxkbcommon-x11.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The application showed no window, but may be a system tray application (usr/bin/qsynth: QSystemTrayIcon); running it again with a system tray
qsynth: error while loading shared libraries: libxkbcommon-x11.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
No icon appeared in the system tray either
ERROR: The application exited within 11 seconds instead of showing a window

What next: once the AppImage is fixed (e.g. in a new release), comment /retest here to test it again. If it should not be in the catalog after all, close this pull request; an app that is already in the catalog can be removed by a maintainer with /remove.
