Btw, I switched to Ubuntu LTS on my new machine and missed a package pkg-config (that's why I added that also to GHA even if there it does not seem to be missing)

Do you have some perspective on this tool though? What's your opinion? There doesn't seem to be a clear consensus, even though Volta recommends it, and I've also seen very critical feedback (for example TheJaredWilcurt/blog#40).

Thanks for the link. My impression so far is quite good, but I also haven't done any advanced stuff. For the things we do here and in mlc it feels similar to volta. Sometimes a mise upgrade is needed in a VS Code terminal to apply tool config, although that should not be necassary as I have configure everything properly in .bashrc.

I changed my mind and kept the volta instructions for now, though (like in mlc). See the title change and forced commit.
