When to use "derivedFrom" and when to use "source"

In creating a competency framework description, it is easy to confuse the appropriate uses of the derivedFrom and the source properties.

source: When you are referencing the exact location of the canonical framework source for data encoding being created, use source to identify that location. This must be an identifier to an exact page/location that supports the user in verifying that the data entry comports with the source of the representation being created--i.e., it cannot be a website on which the source can be found by foraging around.

derivedFrom: When you are creating a derivative framework or competency that modifies the source framework, use derivedFrom to identify the relationship between the framework or competency you are modifying and the source used..
