Introductions

Nice to meet you! I'm Tylus Dawkins.

Full-Stack Engineer building real-time systems in regulated industries. Currently at Circa Sports, developing a .NET Orleans / MSSQL backend for real-time sports betting data, with Blazor/MAUI and WinForms UIs on top of it. Before that I built claims and policy services automation in a compliance-first environment at Liberty Mutual. I specialize in microservice architecture and cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, with a systems-level emphasis on auditability, correctness, and data migration at scale — I'm comfortable across the full stack and multiple languages, and I've shipped production software under regulatory constraints where correctness and long-term maintainability are non-negotiable.

⚡ Career timeline: Circa Sports (Full-Stack Software Engineer, current) → Liberty Mutual (Software Engineer, IVR chatbots & firewall-as-code) → Doka (contract, shipment tracking) → General Assembly (instructor, part-time/full-time throughout).

💁: Before becoming a Software Engineer I worked in the insurance space working in contact centers, I spent time as an agent, a mentor/Nesting coach, and a Trainer/Learning Specialist.

Values

Team Oriented: It is my goal to make sure that all of my associates have the tools and support to thrive in their jobs.

Collaboration: I believe all of our best work is done in conjunction with others

Transparency: It is impossible to work with others if you're not open and honest.

Integrity: Results are driven by well-intentioned actions

Stacks/Talents

C#  .NET  Blazor  TypeScript  React  Next.js  Solid.js  Express  Python  Django  FastAPI  Tailwind CSS

AWS  Azure  Docker  Kubernetes  MSSQL  PostgreSQL  MongoDB  Redis

I have proven expertise with several technologies. At Circa Sports I build a .NET Orleans and MSSQL backend for real-time sports betting data, plus Blazor/MAUI and WinForm UIs on top of it. At Liberty Mutual I created chatbots with Node/TypeScript, AWS Lex and Lambdas, and a Python/Django application for generating migratable firewall templates across Azure ARM, Bicep, AWS CFT and Terraform. With Doka I worked with Angular building a shipment/freight tracking application. With General Assembly I taught full-stack development in React, Next.js, Node/Express, Python/Django, PostgreSQL and MongoDB to hundreds of students across thousands of projects.

The Showcase(ish)

Most of my best work has been done professionally on proprietary software I can't share here (see my resume for that), but here's what I've built in-between.

Two-Way Translator — Real-Time AI Speech Translation Platform

A multi-service real-time speech transcription and translation platform, architected for production-grade reliability with horizontal and vertical scaling in mind. A Solid.js frontend streams live transcripts over WebSockets from a FastAPI backend handling JWT auth and session management. It's split into 4 specialized microservices: an authenticated audio ingest receiver, a GPU-accelerated Whisper (large-v3) transcriber, a transcription merger for text assembly and persistence across active sessions, and the main session API — connected by Redis pub/sub, backed by PostgreSQL with Alembic migrations, and deployed via a multi-profile Docker Compose setup supporting both CPU and GPU targets.

Design Your Jewelry — Full-Stack Next.js E-Commerce Platform

A custom jewelry design and e-commerce platform built with Next.js 14, Tailwind CSS, and PostgreSQL, deployed to Vercel. It features a drag-and-drop design board (@dnd-kit) supporting 7 chain configurations, per-anchor bead placement, and a real-time skin-tone mannequin preview, with server-side auth validation via Clerk's getAuth() to prevent user spoofing at the API layer. Order management runs through a Stripe integration and a full Sequelize data model covering design submission, handcraft fulfillment, and shipment tracking.

For the Nostalgic

Older personal/bootcamp projects, kept around for the story more than the code.

Sales Tracker

This is probably my most interesting project to talk about as it is truly the most learning I have done in the fewest days. I worked on this as part of a 4-day group hackathon for our onboarding with Liberty Mutual, there were a total of 4 of us, two on the frontend, and two on the backend, I worked on the frontend. This was my first time working with charts, I decided to learn Chart.js while the others worked on either mocking data, setting up Models, Views, and controllers, or figuring out how to style the app. I had to stretch my knowledge of React, this is where I learned exactly why understanding that setState runs async, that it uses reference equality, and how to use helper functions within the frame of state manipulation was so important. One of the more fun challenges I had with this project was the loss of the backend, I could not possibly run the backend code for a public deployment, as the dependencies were in a library specific to LM's ecosystem, so I had to write a utility to come up with hundreds of randomized contacts so I could deploy this as a portfolio piece.

Dungeons and Dragons roguelike creator

I built this as an idea I had for a little known game called "Dungeons and Dragons," using React. I'm a big fan of DnD, but there's one big barrier to playing it: getting a table of people together. So I wanted a system that could allow for a DnD-like experience one could play solo, taking inspiration from roguelikes since they're typically highly replayable thanks to randomized combat abilities. It's been an excellent exercise in both logic/scripting and UI/UX — complex logic for deciding what spells and abilities the player gets, state management for resources with messaging when actions aren't possible, and a parchment/scroll aesthetic with rich colors and high contrast throughout.
