Walkthrough
This PR separates device-only client and push types from shared and server declarations. It updates device client return types, package exports, React type annotations, type checks, and migration documentation.
Changes
Device client type separation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Shared and device type contracts packages/core/device.d.ts, packages/core/types.d.ts, packages/core/http.d.ts, packages/core/push.d.ts, packages/core/react-native-push.d.ts, packages/core/package.json, packages/core/tsconfig.typedoc.json, typedoc.json
A device-specific declaration module adds device client, push, and local-device types. Shared declarations remove device-only APIs, and HTTP push uses Push. Package exports and TypeDoc configuration include the device declarations.
Device package exports and constructors use PubSubClient, device options, and device plugins. Core implementation declarations use the device LocalDevice type.
React client types and validation packages/core-impl/src/platform/react-hooks/src/*, packages/core-impl/test/package/browser/template/src/index-pubsub-side.ts
React providers and hooks use device package types, and related test casts use PubSubClient. Browser type checks distinguish device and server client APIs.

ably/ably-pubsub-js#2327: Adds a device debug declaration that uses the PubSubClient contract defined here.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 25 files.
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

…lient under @ably/pubsub-core/device
A server is not a push target, so the core's PubSubRealtimeClient no
longer declares getDevice(), and Push holds only admin. The device-only
declarations move to a new core module, reached only through the
@ably/pubsub-core/device subpath: PubSubClient extends
PubSubRealtimeClient with getDevice() and a DevicePush, which extends Push
with activate(), deactivate() and updateToken(). LocalDevice moves with
them.
The core root does not re-export the device module, so
@ably/pubsub-server, which star-exports the root, carries none of it.
@ably/pubsub-device re-exports it alongside the shared types. TypeDoc
documents it as a module of its own.
Everything else keeps using PubSubRealtimeClient. Only the device
factories return PubSubClient, asserting it over the realtime class,
which implements the device APIs. The HTTP client's push becomes the base
Push, so HttpPush is removed.
Only types change. At runtime both factories still build the same client.
BREAKING CHANGE: PubSubRealtimeClient no longer declares getDevice(), and
Push no longer declares activate(), deactivate() or updateToken(). On a
device, use PubSubClient and DevicePush. The server's realtime client has
neither, and the React hooks' client is typed as PubSubRealtimeClient.
PubSubClient is no longer an alias of PubSubRealtimeClient, and HttpPush
is replaced by Push.

…e React hooks as device clients
PushChannel subscribes the local device, or its client ID, to push for a
channel. subscribeDevice() and unsubscribeDevice() need getDevice(), the
rest repeat push.admin.channelSubscriptions, and on a server the getter
throws 40019. So, like DevicePush, PushChannel moves to
@ably/pubsub-core/device, and channel.push to the RealtimeChannel that
module declares, which extends the shared one and is the channel type of
PubSubClient.channels. @ably/pubsub-device exports it in place of the
shared RealtimeChannel, so device code keeps the same name. RealtimeChannel and HttpChannel no
longer declare push. The Push plugin key moves from CorePlugins to
DevicePlugins, and pushServiceWorkerUrl from the shared ClientOptions to a
device ClientOptions that extends it with DevicePlugins as its default
plugin map. @ably/pubsub-device exports that ClientOptions in the shared
one's place, so an options object annotated ClientOptions still takes the
Push plugin. The change is to the types only: the server factories pass
plugins through as before.
The React hooks ship only in @ably/pubsub-device, so the context,
PubSubClientProvider, usePubSubClient() and useChannel() are typed with
PubSubClient and the device RealtimeChannel. Push users can call getDevice(),
push.activate() and channel.push through the hooks again.
BREAKING CHANGE: RealtimeChannel.push, HttpChannel.push, CorePlugins.Push
and ClientOptions.pushServiceWorkerUrl are removed from the shared types,
and the React provider and hooks take and return PubSubClient rather than
PubSubRealtimeClient. Use the @ably/pubsub-device client for
channel push subscriptions, or push.admin.channelSubscriptions on a server.

The package test's browser run read channel.push on clients without the
Push plugin, so the getter threw "Push plugin not provided":
@ts-expect-error silences the type error, but the getter still runs.
The device-side checks now use `withPlugins`, which registers the plugin,
and assert at runtime that push.activate(), getDevice() and
channel.push.subscribeDevice() are there. The server-side negative checks
sit in a function that is never called, since those clients have no Push
plugin.
