I'm a young RC and home automation enthusiast who tinkers around with AI (yes, yes, I know, sorry), R/C vehicles of all types, and 3D printing whenever I can. Find me on Thingiverse, Printables, and MakerWorld! And of course, GitHub.
I like to take software and 3D models that are already written/created and then modify them to my liking, then post them online or make a PR for others to use (When licensing allows, of course π).
I do not have very much knowledge about coding (syntax just goes over my head...), but I have been using AI with good results. I hold the AI to a high standard and add and test new features slowly and carefully. With that said, I find YAML pretty simple and so I usually write my own ESPHome configs. While I use AI for coding, I cannot stand AI generated summaries, so I write all of my READMEs (including this one!) manually, or with very minimal AI cleanups. No π please.
If I post it here on GitHub, it means that I think it has enough features and perfect stability (within reason...). While you are here, why not check out my syslog server, my ESPHome configs, or one of my Home Assistant cards or forked integrations?
If you are wondering why the donut PFP, it is because I randomly set a round PNG icon as my profile when I first created my GitHub account, and I never changed it. I think it is cool how it becomes invisible in GitHub dark mode. If you are reading this in dark mode and you are thinking, "What profile picture?!", then try and disable dark mode for a moment.
π‘ Fun fact: you are probably only reading this because it says "fun fact".
π‘ Fun fact: you probably this read wrong
π‘ Real fun fact: I think I could be considered a power user of almost everything I own. Or, if it has a settings menu, I'll find every option. :)
π‘ Another fun fact: I have an old HGST drive with 2,712,593 load cycles, from an old business M72e.

In OPNsense, do not try to redirect NTP to
::1because ntpd for some reason hates it. Use a ULA instead. -
Don't be scared to set Home Assistant to port 80:

server_port: 80-
If someone online suggests unnecessary complexity, feel free to ignore them and do the best option for YOU. Just because someone wants a special VLAN for their ESPHome devices does not mean you need one too.

Home Assistant shines when you have local control. If you set up Home Assistant and keep buying Tuya plugs, what are you doing.
-
If you like to vibecode a lot, at least have another session to simply have the AI review the generated code.
-
Random fact: I got rid of Pi hole in favor of OPNsense's Unbound blocklists because I am tired of maintaining yet another bit of software.

If you read the above AI section and are now wondering why my commits often sound like AI, it's because I don't feel like writing commit messages if Copilot's one is good.
