Hopefully this fixes the GCC compilation for more recent versions. It upgrades sol2 to version 3.5.0 and includes the patch from ThePhD/sol2#1676, which should fix compilation with newer compiler versions. Another change is that we don't use the single header file anymore, as this makes patching more complex than before.
Edit: Also check out https://bugs.gentoo.org/955999 which shows that this is the current fix for the Gentoo ebuild.
