This PR adds a editorconfig file to the repository and applies the settings to the files in the repository.
The editorconfig maintains consistent code and file style across different IDEs and editors. All widely-used editors support the editorconfig configuration.

The current PR doesn't add any relevant code changes and changes only formatting issues (deleting unnecessary white space, etc.).
