OpenWebStart Disappears

My device is a MacBook Air M4 running macOS Tahoe 26.2 with Java 8u333.

When I open a work website that uses Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), it downloads and opens a .jnlp file using OpenWebStart. The application launches successfully but immediately closes with no warning or error message.

Sounds more ad an error ich n the app than in OWS.

Maybe you should check your app logs.
And also your OWS logs to be sure (check OpenWebStart Settings where to find them).

I also experience the same behavior. Log information says "Unable to validate root ca cert."

Is your app signed with a self-signed certificate?
If you have an own root ca try to install it in windows trust store.

Same symptom on Mac mini (Apple Silicon), macOS 26, OWS 1.14.0 x64 build (needed because the app's jna.jar has no arm64 native lib), Temurin 8 x64 under Rosetta.
Findings from ows-stage2.log:

• All jars download and verify (SIGNED_OK). Process ends 0.5–2 s after "Closing DownloadServiceListener", before "Starting application". No exception in the log. LaunchServices reports LSExitStatus=0. Shutdown hooks run, so it is a normal JVM exit, not a crash.
• The exit point moves between runs (during jar verification, or during native extraction of an 83 MB jar). It looks like a race: the download window is disposed, no other window exists yet, and the JVM ends as a finished GUI app while the launcher thread is still verifying/unpacking. On the arm64 JVM the gap is shorter and the app starts.
• Workaround that fixes it 100% here: deployment.console.startup.mode=SHOW. The console window keeps the JVM alive until the app window appears.
• -Xmx2g via JAVAWS_VM_ARGS did NOT fix it alone.

Suggestion: keep a non-daemon thread or the indicator window alive until Launcher reaches "Starting application".
