以前、exampleをビルドしたことがある場合はios、androidディレクトリを削除してから、
npx expo prebuildを実行してネイティブプロジェクトを再生成する必要があります（npx expo prebuild --cleanではダメでした。。）Expo更新後、iOS, Androidのシュミレータでカード登録が成功することを確認済みです。
Expo53への更新影響は
npx expo-doctor@latestで確認しクリアしました。参考
