Rationale (300-600 words)

This design is intended to modernize, clean, and functional the PHP 8.5 presentation interface while maintaining alignment with the current structure.
The main focus is to transmit the php sentiment through a modern approach and the evidence of the logos.

Specifically, we have:

  1. Home page organized into well-defined and clean sections. Each section provides the necessary information with a clear and legible system font.

  2. Code examples comparing the previous and current versions, and links to RFCs.

  3. Additional information and references to popular frameworks, project timeline, and download sections.

The colors are clean, with subtle gradients and simple animations for the most important sections.

Light/dark mode support and designed for easy mobile use.

Easily upgradable for future versions of PHP by introducing different animations.

The logo has also been slightly modified to make it more suitable for visual modes.

Support for menu-bar search, language switching and dark/light mode.

Every section can be customized easely.

Hi! Thank you for your submission(s). I noticed that they do not use the “existing 8.5 content” from PR #1454 and do not actually showcase the most interesting “new PHP 8.5” features (e.g. the new URI extension or clone-with), instead focusing on some minor improvements. While single-line snippets might be sufficient for these minor improvements, I don't feel they can sufficiently showcase some of the larger features, especially when combined with a proper description that explains what is happening.

I suggest to take a look at #1454 and the current rendered version at https://web-php-pr-1454.preview.thephp.foundation/releases/8.5/en.php to see what is planned for the the release page, as also suggested in the contest description: “Content-first: use existing 8.5 content as data.”.

Disclosure: I'm not part of the contest jury or otherwise involved in scoring. I am however a core developer of PHP, developed several of the new PHP 8.5 features and helped preparing the release pages for PHP 8.3, 8.4 and now also helped to prepare and refine the planned contents for 8.5.

    Ok.
    I'll partecipate with this design.
On my repo there were other designs: https://github.com/asterd/php8.5-design-contest
If you find something good outside the contest, to me is the same, you can use openly.
