…not only in the transcript A report that looks finished is the most dangerous artifact this session produced. The 2026-09-09 full-cohort run is void — the murderboard found the generator was fitted to the smallest 55 of 84 recordings — and until now that fact lived in a conversation. It now lives where somebody would find it: REPORT.md and RUN_RECORD.md in the darkroom both open with the withdrawal, what withdrew them, and what survives. Three of RUN_RECORD's own numbers are corrected in place rather than left standing, including a "100% of slices" that is false in both treatments and a promiscuity pair that names the wrong two detectors. The root handoff is rewritten and the previous one is retired to docs/handoffs/ rather than deleted -- its "Do not break this" section is not superseded, because Tony still judges out of a detached worktree that must not be reaped. WHAT THE HANDOFF GATE TAUGHT, and it is worth keeping. `test_handoff_is_honest` demands the root file name an open PR, and everything this session opened had merged. The honest state was "in flight as a DECISION, with no PR to retire it" — which the gate cannot represent, and should not have to. Two wrong answers were available: invent a PR, or delete the root signal while a withdrawn run and eight unanswered questions were still live. The right one was to name the item that genuinely is open (#466, inherited and still held), say in words that the real blocker is a decision, and give that decision a durable home of its own — so `docs/todo/2026-09-09-eight-questions-before-the-conditioned-run.md`, status waiting-on-tony, where the queue he actually reads will surface it. Both boards released. The cross-machine board records that the darkroom directory is held by nobody AND that its measurements are void, because "released" alone would invite the next session to read the folder as finished work. Nothing else is in flight. The re-run's corrected assessment and spec exist only in this session's scratchpad, which is not durable, so the handoff says to treat the re-run as not started rather than half-done.
