Add support for web origin private file system (OPFS)
Drop the cross-platform *Async layer and keep the common API unchanged. On web, expose FileKit.originPrivateDirectory(), file(), directory(), listEntries(), write(), writeString() and delete(). - Refresh the file snapshot after each write so size() and lastModified() stay correct. - Honour delete(recursively) and only ignore NotFoundError when mustExist is false. - Keep WebFile.FileWrapper.file immutable. - Pass ByteArray to OPFS without copying on Kotlin/JS. - Document OPFS storage in the write-file guide. - Add ExperimentalFileKitApi and mark every new OPFS declaration with it. - Expose the root as the FileKit.originPrivateDir property; its browser handle is requested on first use. - Replace file()/directory() with resolveFile()/resolveDirectory(), which accept relative paths and create missing parents when create is true. - Compare OPFS entries by path so the same entry is equal across lookups. Hi @timo-drick, thanks a lot for this PR, and for the detailed description! OPFS support is a great addition to FileKit. You were right in your description: a clean solution would need suspend functions for file attributes. That would change FileKit's core API on every platform, so I'd rather design it separately and keep this PR focused on the web. I pushed a few changes directly to your branch:
Thanks again for your contribution 🙏 |
This pull request adds support for the web origin private file system (OPFS), enabling temporary files on web targets.
The main new feature is FileKit.filesDirectory() function which will work on all platforms including web.
Unfortunately there are some things i am not really pleased with. So to be able to support PlatformFile attributes like size, lastModified ... the current web implementation loads a snapshot of a BrowserFile. It will not automatically return the newest size or lastModified values. To get them we need a suspend function interface. So i am also a little bit unsure how to cleanly add this into the architecture of FileKit. But it would be really nice if the user does not need to care which platform it is and can write most of the code in common part. So in the long run would be nice to have suspension functions for the different attributes of the file maybe for everything.
